About e-Funding

What is the purpose of e-Funding?

e-Funding has been designed to help facilitate municipal access to donor and grant funding, by improving the visibility of available funding streams. The IDPNC also benefits funding organisations by informing them of suitable municipal projects requiring  funding at an early stage of the planning cycle.

e-Funding is integrally linked to e-Project. e-Funding is used by registered organisations to set up internal funds. Project managers can view and select both internal and external funding sources when registering and editing  projects in e-Project.

Who can access e-Funding?

e-Funding is limited to government users and funding organisations.  The IDPNC will publish a document in e-Library listing funds carried in e-Funding applicable to a wider stakeholder base than government organisations.

e-Funding has two types of users – those with read, write and edit permissions, such as fund mangers, and those with viewing permission only, e.g government users.  A complete permissions list is available Here.

How to register as a Funding Organisation and/or Fund Manager?

Any organisation with an IDPNC administrator can allocate fund manager permissions to staff who manage funds. Staff requiring access as fund managers need to apply via their Organisational Administrator, either during initial registration (by selecting Fund Manager in the Registration form) or at a later date via an internal process i.e. e-mail the Administrator and request that he/she change the applicants permissions.

Any registered user belonging to an organisation without an administrator will be allocated permissions via the IDPNC National Administrator provided the user is a a fund manager. Due to the need to carefully manage the funding database, the IDPNC usually contacts funding organisations directly, however any funding organisation or programme that would like to add funding details to the database can contact the IDPNC Call Centre. The Call Centre will facilitate access to the database once formal bona fides have been established.

What funding sources are applicable to the IDPNC?

Funding Sources fall into two broad categories
  1. Funding sources for projects which originate from within a National Department, Provincial Department or Municipality.  This includes:
  2. Funding from Donor Agencies and Private institutions who have funds accessible to Government Departments and/or municipalities for projects in South Africa.

NB. Projects include those with a physical delivery component (roads, houses, reticulation etc) and/or intrinsic value (aids awareness campaigns, skills development, etc).
